Powwow and Cultural Calendar of Events by Region

The following is a list of some of the larger gatherings held in the Northwest. Some are called "powwows," some are called "celebrations." No matter what they are called, the public is welcome to attend. Call ahead for the exact dates and times, which often vary from year to year.

Don't hesitate to ask questions if you're not sure what to wear, how to act, what to bring, or if cash donations are needed.

Each tribe holds other community events as well. If you are planning to be on or near a reservation, call the tribe and ask whether any events are scheduled that are open to the public. Colleges and universities in major Northwest cities often have urban Indian organizations that sponsor powwows and events as well.
